Health care union strike vote leads to new extended deal
The Hospital Employees Union and the Fraser Basin Authority reach a tentative contract expanding contracting out protections and pay scales while boosting para medic roles within a community paramedicine model. The agreement, built on a 2012 deal, aims to stabilize jobs and prevent privatization amid stress on the health care system. HEU, CUPE, and other unions back ratification after a 96 percent strike vote in April by the FBA bargaining group.
