Justice Institute of British Columbia to Train Across System
Canada’s first province wide justice training hub will open in Vancouver later this year under the Colleges and Provincial Institutes Act. The Justice Institute will consolidate training for court police corrections sheriff and fire services personnel, improving quality and coordination. Honourable Don Phillips announced a major Grizzly Valley road plan south of Dawson Creek. The first phase upgrades 26 miles from Kelly Lake to Red Willow River and clears to Stoney Lake, starting this summer with Cabinet funding of 1.4 million dollars.

BC school trustees back moderate leadership and internship plan
At the BCSTA convention 344 trustees chose incumbent Dave Randal as president and backed a one-year internship for all new teachers. They urged tax relief with a 25 percent local funding target, opposed radical leadership changes, and narrowly defeated a motion to bar public school teachers from trusteeship. The four-day meeting ended Monday.

General Enterprises awarded 585,170 contract to construct Alaska Highway BC from km 360.8 to km 366 The end of August bid was the second lowest with the high bid at 1,040,018 Public Works Canada announced.
