Chetwynd Council Passes 1996 Budget With Road Plans
Chetwynd council approved a 1996 budget totaling about 10 million with plans to pave 40th and 42nd Streets south of 52nd Avenue and upgrade 52nd Avenue routes. The budget adds 40000 to a 444000 provincial grant for the airport runway, funds road work from 350000 via Industrial Tax Agreement and reserve borrowings of 400000 repaid over four years starting 1997. Councillor Conn Nicholson opposed both the main budget and the borrowing proposal.
