Evening Continuing Education Classes Begin Next Week
Several classes start after spring break including a beginner sign language course on April 5 and a truck driving training program by April 5. A megatart session is set for April with registration encouraged to secure a spot. The Red Cross Babysitter course begins April 11 for ages 12 and up and Mitt Making with Liz Letcher returns on April 7 and 21 featuring moccasin fur lined beaded mitts.

Northern Development Council elects leaders and plans meetings
The Northern Development Council held its first 1988 meeting on February 15 with Alan Boyd re-elected Chairman and Fox chosen Vice-Chairman by acclamation. A letter from Premier Vander Zalm proposed a meeting with Ministers of State, aiming to schedule during the Northern Central Municipal Association Convention May 5–7 in Kitimat. The council also invited the Fort Nelson Liard Regional District to join, and announced upcoming classes on deerskin glove making, hunter training, fruit growing in the Peace, and GED preparation with contact details.

Edith Windrem recalls the 1931 season on the Little Prairie homestead. She applied for a teaching post at a new log school near Groundbirch called Tuscolla Mountain, met the Lemm family and Bill and Ted Day, learned salaries before 1932, picked raspberries, enjoyed bannock and cheese, and describing river fording on the way home to Little Prairie.
