School Board advances heating project at Chetwynd CSS
School District 59 board approved 100000 from capital to start phase 1 of the Chetwynd Secondary heating upgrade, with a three year timeline and government funding likely in June. Trustees anticipate air quality improvements and plan for a summer start while school is out. The district faces a 143 per student funding increase for 1999/2000, aimed at smaller primary classes and more teachers, to be applied per government direction. Rural schools conference plans include a Saskatchewan trip in April and an October district event, with focus on multi grade teaching and budgeting for isolated schools. A Mexico trip for CSS students, led by Cal Cameron, is planned for May in partnership with the Rec Centre Leisure Services.
