Crop insurance enrollment falls in Peace region
In the Peace region participation in the crop insurance program of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food has declined from nearly 600 farmers in 1974 to 250 by 1980. The drop raises concerns for grain and forage growers facing drought hail frost and heavy rains as insured coverage remains subsidized at about 70 percent of long term averages for 40 percent of the cost.
