The Chetwynd and District Rec Centre hosts broomball and ringette for the Winter Games this March. Ringette starts Friday at 7 00 am, broomball at 3 45 pm, with medal presentations Sunday. Gold silver bronze awarded for ringette at 9 30 am and broomball at noon.
Dawson Creek and Chetwynd merchants are urged to decorate shops for the Winter Games March 10 to 13. About 3,000 guests are expected, with prize money yet to be announced. Schools are encouraged to decorate facilities with cash prizes of 500, 350, and 200 dollars for top entries.
Christine James Recreation Co ordinator notes plans for broomball and ringette at the Chetwynd Rec Centre during the Winter Games. Volunteers like Laurence and Christine organize entertainment options and city activities to support visiting athletes and spectators. The Dawson Creek Winter Games Society thanks Chetwynd organizers for their ongoing efforts.
The District Council met on Tuesday in March 1988 with Mayor Lasser and six aldermen present. They approved accounts payable of 203251.53 and considered Pine Valley Exhibition Park Grant-in-Aid. A stall rental policy, rezoning denial for Lyle Disher, and various correspondence items were discussed. The council sent letters of support, nominated Al Henry to a Building Inspectors conference, and declared Citizenship Week for April 17 to 23. They reviewed remittance orders for isolated posts, assigned future tasks to a regional task force, and pledged donations for students traveling abroad. The meeting covered many community groups, funding requests, and upcoming campaigns, with further notes on boundary expansion opposition and future info items.
Education Minister Tony Brummet announced a computer error in January exam processing caused some students to receive incorrect marks. The corrected marks have been mailed and are generally higher. districts and schools have been informed and provided with the correct information.
