Erosion Erodes Williston Reservoir Shoreline Endangering Homes
Land along Williston Reservoir is eroding as waves and wind reclaim shoreline. Farmer Gary Shelton bought 13.5 acres in 1981 and now has perhaps five or six left. With the reservoir at full capacity, rock along exposed beaches slows erosion but many nearby properties, including a home now closer to danger, face rising losses. BC Hydro is facing pressure as residents seek action while officials warn of broader risk to roads and homes.
