Spill begins at WAC Bennett and Peace Canyon dams
The first prolonged water release in a decade started June 26 from the WAC Bennett and Peace Canyon dams near Hudsons Hope. Spill may continue to mid August depending on Williston reservoir inflows. BC Hydro states spill is normal operation to manage high reservoir levels and aims to minimize larger future spills. Public safety warnings urge staying away from spillways and viewing at designated visitor centres with open days noted.
