Russian Antonov 124 brings compressor to Prince George
Aircraft enthusiasts in Prince George will see one of the world’s largest freighters, the Antonov 124, delivering a natural gas compressor unit for Westcoast Energy Inc’s Australian station. The plane is due 11:45 a.m. Sunday June 25 with a possible late arrival June 27. The unit, built by Nuovo Pignone in Italy, will be unloaded and transported to the Australian site to boost capacity and reliability for domestic and export gas markets. Westcoast expects full operation by November 1, 1995, with a return visit planned for early July for a second unit to Summit Lake.
