College settles on agreements at Northern Lights College

Chetwynd Aces Two Zone 8 Track Spots For Summer Games
Chetwynd sends two athletes to represent Zone 8 at the Burnaby Summer Games July 19 to 22. Ian McIlvenna and Dallas Listhaeghe qualified in Prince George as part of an eight member Region 8 team. Ian won the Bantam aggregate at Zone 8 with first in 1500 metres setting a record 4 38.6 and top finishes in 800 and 5000 metres while Dallas set a record in the Juvenile Javiln event and won 1st place with a 29.82 metre throw. Dean Gladue also claimed two firsts in Javiln and Shot Put for the Chetwynd contingent.

Expo 86 plans move forward in Vancouver

Minister backs Canfor tree farm licence plan in Chetwynd
Forests Minister Tom Waterland recommended to Cabinet that Canfor Limited be offered a Tree Farm Licence in the Chetwynd area. The plan shifts areas from the TFL to Woodlot Licences up to 1.5 percent of the annual cut, with 13.5 percent for Small Business Enterprise timber sales and reforestation duties to be completed in 20 years. Ninety percent of timber to be harvested by contract loggers, with ministerial flexibility in exceptions.
