Premiers Agree on Canada Cattle Disaster Relief Plan
In a Western Premiers conference the leaders endorse an extraordinary national response to BSE with a temporary 400 million program. It would share 90 percent of losses to industry with 10 percent kept by industry itself, to last until August 31 2003 or border reopening. They urge federal action on EI access, market reopening, and equitable support. Prime Minister Chretien and Agriculture ministers to discuss immediate implementation.
