Annual Chetwynd Rodeo and Parade Delight Crowds
Sunny skies and warm weather fueled a successful weekend at the Annual Chetwynd Rodeo. Lions Clubs reported record attendance while the parade featured many floats and walkers joined by the Dawson Creek pipe band. Winners list and rodeo results were not available at press time. next week will publish winners and more photos.

Survey asks hunters and anglers value of B C recreation
The Ministry of Environment will send brown covered questionnaires to 28,000 B C hunters 4,000 non resident hunters 10,000 B C anglers and 10 000 non resident anglers in coming weeks. The 20 question survey seeks age years of experience amount spent and what a day of hunting or fishing would be worth in dollars. Responses are confidential and will guide wildlife and fish management plans. In 1981 about 261 000 residents fished and 160 000 hunted.

Chetwynd Fire Dept Wins Grand Aggregate Trophy
The Chetwynd Volunteer Fire Department won the Grand Aggregate trophy at the Northern British Columbia regional Hose Laying Competition held in Taylor B C over June 12 and 13. Fire teams and families camped beside Taylor Community Hall as festivities began Friday evening and continued through Saturday and Sunday.

Fort St. John man charged with forgery in June 1982
Clif ford Irvin Dunn aged 47 of Fort St. John faced five counts of forgery and one additional count after forged documents. He was found with three forged cheques totaling 5000 and pleaded guilty in Dawson Creek on June 8 earning seven months in jail. Reports from Saulteau Band at Moberly Lake noted a break in, with many cheques and cash stolen. Beaver Lumber also reported a break in with six hatchets and a calculator stolen. Rodeo weekend was quiet with one liquor arrest.
