Alaska program brings student teachers to northern schools
The Alaska Highway Consortium on Teacher Education nearing its second year places student teachers from Chetwynd Kathy Sawchuck and Norine Koecher in Windrem Elementary. The joint venture links school districts, community colleges, and Simon Fraser University to address northern teacher shortages, offering early in classroom experience and a fall practicum for the first entry group. December marks the first certification of AHCOTE graduates to teach in British Columbia.
