First Annual K H A Marathon Qualifies Local Runners
The first Annual K H A Marathon and Half Marathon were held on Sunday May 25. The marathon started near Cameron Lake campsite and ended at Chetwynd High School covering 26 miles while the half marathon began near Moberly bridge and finished at the same school over 13 miles. Only a few completed both events as four students joined the instructor in the seven day Mount Lemoray camping trip starting Tuesday.

Library Advisory Council formed by BC minister in 1978
The Library Development Commission was dissolved and a Library Advisory Council created. On May 2, nearly two years later, Provincial Secretary Evan Wolfe announced seven BC residents to the council. Appointees include Daphne Scott of Prince Rupert Ray Woods of Williams Lake Michael Whittaker of Victoria Mae Williams of Fernie Donald Porter formerly of Delta Stephen Cribb of New Westminster and Dolly Kennedy of Vancouver. The BC Library Trustees Association hopes the council will advance province wide library development. Dolly Kennedy will report on Executive meeting with Wolfe at the annual BCLTA gathering June 14 at the Hotel Vancouver. The Association will meet with the Canadian Library Association, convening in Vancouver June 11–17.
