Free burgers draw crowds to Dawson Creek beef appreciation
A July 17 downtown barbecue hosted by the Dawson Creek Chamber of Commerce and Rip's Shoe Re-Nu celebrated Peace Region beef amid U.S. border tensions. About 1,300 burgers fed beef producers, travelers, and locals while politicians urged reopening the border. Statements from MLA Blair Lekstrom and Alberta Beef Producers highlighted politics over mad cow concerns, with donations from Lawrence Meat Packers and IGA boosting the event.
