Wink Wheeler 1958 move to Chetwynd and lifelong service
Wink Wheeler moved to Chetwynd in 1958 and lived there nearly four decades. He joined the Elks and Legion, earning life memberships, served as a dedicated first aid volunteer, and was named Chetwynd’s Citizen of the Year in 1963. In 1995 he relocated to Fernie to be near son David, moved to Cranbrook in 1998, and died July 4, 2001 after a short illness. He leaves Nora, sons David and Rick, daughters-in-law Sandra and Marilyn, and seven grandchildren. The Wheeler family thanks Pastor Bill Evans, Bob Shirley, Ken Crowle, Legion and Ladies’ Auxiliary, Elks and Ladies of the Royal Purple, Chetwynd Air Cadets, Chetwynd Radio and TV, and Wendy and Gerald Cupples for memorial support.
