Local area boys to be proud of in NHL comeback
Northeastern British Columbia players return to pursuit of NHL careers. Gerard Dhcaire, an offensive defenceman from the Peace Region, starred in the WHL for Seattle and Kootenay, earned West Second All-Star honors twice, helped Kootenay Ice win the Memorial Cup in 2002, and moved from Buffalo’s 2000 second round to Tampa Bay’s 2002 fifth round before starting pro with Utah and now Springfield in the AHL. Brad Fast, Fort St John native, played junior hockey in Prince George, then Michigan State captaincy and All American honors in 2002-03, followed by stints with Lowell and Carolina organizations.
