A retired Calgary Fire Department captain, who died from leukemia at 63, is honored while his family notes cancer risks from firefighting. Alberta legislation now extends Workers Compensation to urban full-time firefighters with the linked cancers, after years of appeals. Gord Colwell of the IAFF discussed improvements at the funeral.
