No increase in waiting lists for heart surgery in B C
Health Minister Jim Nielsen announced there has been no rise in cardiac surgery waiting lists in British Columbia during budget restraints. He spoke after a June 24 Victoria meeting with administrators and senior surgical representatives from Vancouver General St Pauls and Royal Jubilee Hospitals about ongoing efforts to reduce wait times and address staffing shortages while maintaining emergency care. Last year BC recorded 1459 open heart operations with just under 1000 bypass procedures.
