Province to take over student loan program from banks

Beginning August 1 the province will finance student loans rather than chartered banks. BDP Business Data Services will administer the loans with provincial funding, while the banks end their financing role. Federal and provincial agreements with banks expire July 31. About 90 million in loans are expected to aid about 30 000 students next year at an estimated 12.4 million.
