Staff at the Hudson's Hope health clinic found federal emergency medical supplies deteriorated in sealed compartments. Rubber on stethoscopes broke and bands became contaminated, with some items dated 1956. Fire Chief Jim McBride noted sterility concerns after testing revealed contamination and growth.
B C Hydro reports the W A C Bennett Dam is not deteriorating and is operating normally. Non intrusive explorations using ground penetrating radar and electrical methods continue, while a Swedish expert on internal erosion examined the structure. A June sinkhole filled afterward may reflect slow internal erosion, but officials expect no rapid deterioration and monitor closely.
