District of Chetwynd unveils new crest
On July 4 1989 Mayor Charles Lasser revealed Chetwynd s new crest with the Little Giant. The crest on a white and blue flag portrays forest industry, two sawmills, wildlife moose and elk, a rising sun, a logging truck, a railway symbol and local geography. It highlights agriculture gas industry and the Peace River gateway location with the motto Success Through Effort.

Petition Calls For Traffic Safety Measures In Chetwynd
At the July 4 district meeting residents led by Diane Courtorieille petitioned Council over speeding on 48th Street and stop sign violations at 52nd Avenue. They seek a four way stop, posted speed limit, and speed bumps to prevent accidents. A special July 18 meeting will address the playgroup and road safety, at 7:00 pm in Council Chambers.
