Groundbirch Pipeline project plans environmental review
Transmission Ltd proposes a heav y gas facility near Highway 97 South and Road 231 with Pembina Peace Pipeline involvement. Using BC Hydro power, the project claims a 90 percent emissions reduction and affects 22.5 hectares private land and three hectares public land. It would create eight full time jobs, trigger road upgrades, and influence about 130 nearby residents within a 3.3 km radius, the closest 425 meters away. Environmental effects include soil disruption and habitat loss for amphibians birds and mammals with invasive plant spread. The nine step exemption process is nearly complete and EAO will coordinate with agencies and First Nations before final documentation and decision.
