Peace River District ends contested bylaw debate
The Peace River Regional District paused Building Bylaw No. 1996 2011, ending that version and retaining the wording under a new number after June 26 in Dawson Creek. Chair Karen Goodings noted the policy would not repeat a number, avoiding revision delays while voters consider November 2014 elections. Residents opposed larger-property impacts, preferring land value and BC Building Code alignment.

EnCana LNG project gets environmental exemption near Dawson Creek
Dawson Creek area would host a new EnCana LNG refrigeration plant 7.3 km from the city limits at Highway 97 South and Road 231. The PRRD backed exempting the project from an environmental assessment, citing no significant adverse effects. The BC EAO will decide later this year if an assessment is required. The facility aims to process sweet gas from Sunrise field, with a 30 year life, using a shallow cut process to separate heavier gases for sales gas sent to NG pipeline.
