Wegh Turns 100 After Lifelong Canadian Frontier Journey
Richard Wegh, born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, celebrated his 100th birthday in Kelowna on July 4. A former locksmith turned farmer, he moved to Canada in 1924, built a 700 acre farm, and raised wheat, corn, flax, barley, and oats before passing farming to his son 25 years ago. He endured two world wars, moved from Europe to Canada, and cherishes family, garden, and memories of wartime.
