B C Protects More Land Under Okanagan Shuswap Plan

The Land Resource Management Plan for Okanagan Shuswap adds 122,963 hectares to reach 12.37 percent of British Columbia protected. LRMP zones permit logging and mining where compatible with watersheds and habitat for bighorn sheep, mountain goats, moose, caribou, elk, grizzly bears and martens. Local governments and all six regional districts endorsed the plan.

Mining education program funds teachers from aboriginal communities

A $60,000 government grant supports aboriginal community teachers to attend mining and geoscience workshops. The Mining Association of B C delivers K to 12 classroom resources and a half day workshop with a resource kit, covering travel, accommodation, per diems, and substitute salaries for 25 participants, aiding First Nations economic development.

Chetwynd CMA Coffeehouse Shines as Music Buzz Builds

January 19 Coffeehouse showcased many performers and an enthusiastic audience. Plans for Jumping Jack Fest July 28 29 were announced with more events teased for the six month lead up. February Coffeehouse slated for January 30 with time and location to be announced.
