Sawchuk named to Oil and Gas Commission advisory panel
Wayne Sawchuk, longtime Chetwynd resident and founder of the Chetwynd Environmental Society, is appointed to the Oil and Gas Commission Advisory Committee for a two year term. The body includes seven other public members from Natural Gas, First Nations and service sectors to advise on environmental, economic and social issues and to hear disputes over OGC approvals with potential for dispute resolution. Sawchuk, a 12 year conservation advocate in Chetwynd and northern BC, has worked in guiding, trapping and logging. He is supported by funding groups including the Vancouver Foundation and aims to advance sustainable northern solutions. His Muskwa Kechika work helped establish the 6.3 million ha protected area in BC. A fall 2003 photo book on the Muskwa Kechika is planned. For more info contact Jarvis Wice at 788-9195.
