Highways budgets slashed in 1993 across seven districts
John Clark, District Manager for the Ministry of Transportation and Highways, warned Hudson's Hope Council that seven Highways districts face about a 60 percent budget cut for 1993. Major capital spending is paused, staff may be laid off, and no new work will proceed on the Beryl Prairie Road or Cache Creek Hill beyond limited maintenance and design work.

Hope budget woes stall Cache Creek Hill project plans
Council heard estimates near 5 million to develop Cache Creek Hill while funds are unavailable. Site C remains off the table with BC Hydro and Highways no longer coordinating a new highway. The next five years show no resurfacing for Highway 29 beyond a 1.1 million two year plan, and several area projects and maintenance budgets await contractor control until May 1994.
