Dispute over commission chair and council unity escalates
At a January nine meeting Mayor Shirley and councillors walked out as Nicholson faced opposition for not following council wishes. The commission kept Hannam as chair and passed a larger budget, prompting anger from several councillors and threats to work around Nicholson. A task force including Judge Stewart Shirley and Hannam was formed to resolve which councillor should sit on the Commission.
