Chetwynd advances boundary expansion for mills and mines
District officials press ahead with boundary changes to include Walter Energy Willow Creek mine and Wayne Fraser biomass plant sites. West Fraser plans a 2014 co generation start with 13 direct and 20 construction jobs, using biomass waste to power two Organic Rankine Cycle units. Boundary move could add 350000 in tax revenue, but Walter Energy questions added costs amid market downturn.

Site C dam design deemed capable of withstanding major quake
Hydro engineers told the Joint Review Panel at Fort St. John hearings that the Site C dam design can endure a 7.6 magnitude earthquake, far larger than regional records. The model assumes a 7.6 quake occurs once in 10,000 events, and the analysis is built on extensive seismic hazard data. Additional briefings from Natural Resources Canada Transport Canada and First Nations groups were expected.
