Northern Advancement Program opens doors for rural students
The University of Northern B.C. started NAP in 1977 to help small community students, many from First Nations bands, gain confidence and skills for university. A two week orientation plus Arts 101 and 102 build study and communication abilities. Program leaders Judy Nuualiitia and Anne Marie Sam mentor new enrollees, with growing success and a contact line at (250) 960-5555.

Critters and Beasties of Moberly Lake
After a spell of cold days a chinook arrived on Jan 12 warming temps to 2 degrees with sun. A chinook arch stretched westward as pine grosbeaks increase at feeders and four common redpolls visit while evening grosbeaks vanish. A downy woodpecker briefly tumbled, then righted itself aided by a blue jay. A playful bear from 1996 and a two inch water beetle under ice are noted as wildlife curiosities.
