Last trip marks retirement for BC Rail conductor Norm Listhaeghe
BC Rail conductor Norm Listhaeghe rode his final freight run from Chetwynd to Dawson Creek on Tuesday January 10 1989. Listhaeghe began railroading in 1941 and wove through NA R CPR and PGE BC Rail during a 48 year career, with nine children and a later farming stint. His crew and officials bade him farewell at Chetwynd station as plans for gardening and business expand.

Project 92 well on the road speaker at chamber meeting
Don Marshall representing Project 92 told Chetwynd Chamber of Commerce members the Alaska Highway 50th anniversary project is progressing with an office in Fort St. John. The plan includes a joint logo car rally for 300 cars and a 1,500 mile marathon from Dawson Creek to Fairbanks over 15 days. Additional events include Indian Village Senior's Games snowmobile and reindeer events, a naval exercise and air power displays with up to 3,000 airplanes, plus Bend River Ranch Bluegrass Festival and a joint ski event in planning.
