The District of Chetwynd reports the new town hall will not be ready until the end of June, delayed from mid April. Chief Administrative Officer Doug Fleming notes carpentry resources have shifted back to the city hall after work at the new medical clinic. The district earlier varied tendering to let Southwest Construction and Design of Grande Prairie build both the town hall and clinic, now prioritizing the clinic to reach lock-up.
The trial showed conflicting accounts with Coutrille claiming excessive force and officers saying he resisted and spat. Court heard he was pepper sprayed twice and that a surveillance camera did not exist in the detention cells. Judge Blaskovits found him guilty on all charges and noted no basis for officer collusion. Sentencing date pending.
