The Chetwynd area Victim Witness Assistance Program begins operation coordinated by Bernice Van Sickle and RCMP Cst. Dibbens. British Columbia launches the B C Community Action Program to curb alcohol and drug abuse with 5.4 million dollars over three years. The plan funds prevention and treatment projects, emphasizes local issue identification, and promotes sharing successful models like the Vancouver Youth Resource Centre with other communities.
A regional committee to craft a comprehensive plan for the Northeast Region has been named by Minister of State Jack Weisgerber. Totals include West Coast Energy a 1 ton truck and basis, Chetwynd Forest Industries 2000 dollars, and Lioness Club 4000 dollars, with total equipment cost estimated at 27000 dollars.
