The Echo editor looks back on 2006 and ahead to 2007 with optimism. Housing remains a key concern as newcomers and young professionals seek affordable options, while wind power and coal mining pose challenges for the city. The piece calls for strong action by Mayor and council to unite public and private interests and preserve Chetwynd’s legacy.
The author urges readers to focus on the present and the people around them rather than fretting about the future. He recalls a New Year’s resolution theme, inspired by time with his grandson Paxton at the Island Music Fest, and emphasizes noticing happiness and wellbeing in daily life. Please see "THIS," page 5.
