BC hardship timber quota boosts 50 million board feet
The softwood lumber advisory committee advised the federal government to allocate a 50 million board feet hardship bonus to British Columbia forest companies. Of this, 35 million would go to firms recommended by KPMG, with 15 million aiding the BC Job Protection commission for economic recovery. The decision rests with federal Minister Pierre Pettigrew and could come in the new year.
