Girard Aims for Boston Marathon Debut in 1999
Ron Girard a former Chetwynd resident qualified for the 1999 Royal Victoria Marathon and plans his Boston debut. At 40 he targets finishing under three hours and faces a field of about 19 999 runners. He teaches in Port Hardy after earlier schoolwork in Chetwynd and has trained six days a week with Sundays swimming. His supporters in Chetwynd and family will follow the race as The Echo reports results.
