BC Hydro posts $97 million income rise for nine months
BC Hydro reports net income for the nine months ending December 21 2000 grew by 97 million from the previous year driven by electricity trade revenues and higher market prices. Trade revenues reached 3789 million, up 2876 million year over year, with average prices rising from 48 to 194 per MWh. Domestic revenues climbed 75 million as customer growth boosted residential and commercial segments.

Chetwynd airport to receive 306000 for upgrades
The District of Chetwynd will gain 306000 for airport improvements funded by two grants of 33000 and 273000 and a 103000 district contribution. Minister Helmet Giesbricht said the upgrades will seal runway cracks and rehabilitate the apron and two taxiways for safer medevac and other regional aviation use.

Massive February sale nets 126 million in oil and gas rights
Revenue from oil and gas rights reach 126 million in February with 95 drilling licences and 54 leases covering 165 616 hectares in northeastern British Columbia. Ninety one licences sold led by Sekani Resources Ltd at 4 7 million for a 1 796 hectare parcel. Western Land Services paid 3 560 per hectare for a 595 hectare licence. Soo Line Resource Group Ltd led lease sales at 3 561 per hectare for a 285 hectare parcel. All leases sold. Next sale set for March 28 offering 72 parcels totaling 109 555 hectares.
