Concert charms audience with Machado Russell in Windrem gym
In frigid Windrem School gym Celso Machado and Jill Russell drew a small audience of about 65 on February 17. The duo wove Brazilian, Italian Brazilian, Scottish and harp-inspired tunes with Machado turning guitar into drums and various objects. Russell's flute delivered birdlike passages while the pair teased sound effects from microphones, guitars, and audience instruments. They closed with a rainforest soundscape, lights low, snow outside.
