Women bear the cost of Fort St John oil boom
A BC study of 15 Fort St John women shows women face lower earnings, multiple jobs, and health strains in the oil and gas economy. Camp life disrupts families, increases stress, and some women report harassment and safety fears while chronic illness rises. Despite hardship, researchers note resilience and hope among younger participants. Copies are available at Northern Lights College libraries and UNBC.
