Federal Court of Appeal clarifies natural gas jurisdiction
The Federal Court of Appeal ruled federal authority and the National Energy Board oversee certain Westcoast Energy facilities in northeastern British Columbia, ending eight and a half months of uncertainty. BC Energy Minister Anne Edwards praised the need for coordinated regulation to keep the gas sector viable and signaled possible appeal depending on talks with Ottawa.
