Liberals surge as Conservatives, NDP lose ground in election
In a national result the Liberal party gains 25 seats from Conservatives, five from the NDP and five from the Social Credit. Ontario delivers major support while Conservatives lose heavily there. NDP picks up 10 seats, while Manitoba shows mixed changes and western provinces yield few Liberal wins. Liberal vote share lands at 44 percent versus 33 for Conservatives and about 20 for the NDP.
