Hydro confident of system in light snowpack
British Columbia Hydro says no power shortage is expected next fall and winter despite a light snowpack. Large reservoirs at Williston and McNaughton Lake store water to back up Gordon M. Shrum and Mica plants, enabling continued power supply. Hydrologists expect regional runoff near average for the Peace and Columbia basins, with no current surplus to export to the United States. A final assessment will come in early April.
