Murphy Oil plant near Swan Lake faces public consultation
Dawson Creek reports Murphy Oil will seek a public consultation before continuing the sour gas plant west of Swan Lake. The PRRD granted a presentation to proceed while construction planned for March is under review, though some directors deem the step redundant due to prior contact with residents and landowners within a three kilometre radius. The 55 acre site may be larger than typical for gas facilities. officials say the entire area was purchased with a willing vendor, but only part will be developed. Construction may run through summer with plant startup planned for September and staffing of about 12, mostly from Dawson Creek or Pouce Coupe.
