Money raised in Chetwynd funds local Alzheimer's programs
Over 5000 dollars was raised at Chetwynd's first annual Walk for Memories on Saturday January 26 organized by the Alzheimer's Society of BC. The event started at Cottonwood Court and concluded at the Court with over 35 participants and a post walk scrapbooking gathering. The money funds local educational programs and assistance for those dealing with Alzheimer's. Kathy Weaver, whose husband JR was diagnosed in 2006, notes the journey is lonely but the Society provides vital support.

First Nation seeks share of BP Canada Noel gas project
Kelly Lake Cree Nation chief says the Noel field near Kelly Lake, Alberta, must provide economic benefits to his 400-member nation, which does not own the land and would see royalties go to government coffers until title is settled. BP reports 462 billion cubic feet of gas, 30-year life, with 132 wells planned and solar power for sites.
