Red Cross appeals for Asia Earthquake relief donations

The Canadian Red Cross urged cash donations to aid relief following the Asia earthquake and tsunamis. A relief flight with 25 tonnes of supplies departed from CFB Trenton to Sri Lanka in cooperation with CIDA and the Department of National Defence. The ICRC and national societies aid separated relatives via staff field deployment and a family links site. Donations by Canadians support tents, blankets, water purification, and generators, with multiple contact options and no goods donations accepted.

Year in Review celebrates Chetwynd 2004 and 2005

The Chetwynd Echo invites readers to reflect on a year marked by both tragedy and triumph including an armed bank robbery without injuries and the loss of an elementary school. It highlights mining resurgence and a study calling Chetwynd the province’s most livable place. Readers are urged to send Letters to the Editor with ideas for 2005 while warnings against drinking and driving close the message.
