Five year old Byron, a Ft. St. John resident and patient at the Children’s Hospital, helps apply final touches to the hospital’s Christmas tree. The facility officially opened in April and sits at 4480 Oak Street in British Columbia.
As president of the Chetwynd Chamber of Commerce, the message extends season greetings and best wishes for a prosperous New Year. The chamber notes a permanent office and full time secretary manager, with office hours Monday to Friday nine to five. The group also mentions a Tourist Information Booth and ongoing management duties.
Weekend police activity included one impaired driver arrest and a roadside suspension, plus a vehicle checkpoint that resulted in numerous seat belt fines. The report also mentions Community Information Centre activities and Chamber of Commerce outreach plans for 1983.
During the December 14 1982 general meeting Mrs Shelia Hards Zone Commander Peace River distributed the past officer medals while Mrs Bobbie Larsen read citations. CARD officials met Monday with John Jackman Ray Cunningham and Dal Temple plus E M Hoffman of the Echo to map calls for P R L R D Economic Commissioner Jack Wiesenberger while in Vancouver. Nieber resigns from the CARD Commission and a new appointment is postponed until the New Year. Tony Brummet will visit Chetwynd Tuesday afternoon and will meet with CARD Chamber of Commerce and Council to discuss Sukunka Park Gwillim Park and housing plans. A local business explores an airport limo service to Tumbler Ridge and Columbia Airlines foresees higher usage on the Chetwynd route and may acquire a jet. CARD also eyes above ground fueling at the airport and forest fire bomber service. Gordon Lundquist of Norline Coaches will visit in January for CARD talks.
