BC Rail unions reach tentative two year contract deal
The Council of Trade Unions on BC Rail and BC Rail management announced a tentative two year collective agreement. It will be voted on by union members in the coming weeks with ratification meetings across the rail line. The current contract expires December 31. Last year a Christmas lockout affected over 1,600 workers amid a dispute over major job cuts.

Pavers fined for water removal near Taylor Fort St. John
DGS Astro Paving Limited was fined 5000 for removing water from an unnamed Kiskatinaw tributary between Aug 17 and 19 while upgrading Braden Road. About 20 loads of 4000 gallons each were used in construction. The company halted work, later obtained ministry approval and paid an 184 dollar access fee. The court found no evidence of reduced stream levels.

Canfor Restores Bi Monthly Pay For Contractors
Canfor returns to a bi monthly pay period starting January 1 across all divisions. The change ends a long dispute over mid month draws with contractors and sub contracts. Central Interior Logging Association supports the resolution.
