Metis self government moves forward in Peace Region
Metis people in the Peace Region signed a sub bilateral agreement in Dawson Creek to grant local councils power over their own affairs. Metis Provincial Council President Jody Pierce said the step is small but real as communities prepare to determine their funding and needs with federal provincial and local support. Pierce urged Chetwynd and Dawson Creek Métis to join local chapters and participate in shaping local projects for elders schooling and training.

PRRD chair election ends in tiebreaker stalemate
Directors of the Peace River Regional District failed to appoint a chair at their inaugural meeting as votes for Joe Judge and Karen Goodings tied five to five in the absence of Fred Jarvis. A second poll left the tie, leading to motions for Judge to act as chair until January and Goodings to stay as vice chair.
